Your memory stays yours.

Okroh keeps your stored work encrypted on your computer. AI answers still require sending conversations to AI providers. Here’s how those two things fit together.

What stays on your computer

Your chats, memories, and documents are stored on your device, fully encrypted. The encryption key is held in your system’s secure keychain. Your documents are indexed on your device, and speech recognition happens there, too.

What goes through the gateway

Conversations are sent through Okroh’s gateway to the AI models that answer them, on Amazon Bedrock first. When Bedrock can’t serve a request, it goes through OpenRouter to a zero-data-retention host in the United States. Your prompts aren’t used for training. As an additional layer of security, Okroh’s privacy shield, on by default, replaces the personal details it detects in your messages with stand-ins before they leave your computer. You can turn it off in Settings, and then messages are sent as you wrote them. Images you attach are sent as they are.

Sync is optional. Encryption isn’t.

If you enable sync, chats and memories are end-to-end encrypted across your devices. Okroh’s servers can’t read that synced content.
